FRIENDS OF FOOTBALL Scholarship Application

Applicant MUST be a graduating senior.

Applicant MUST have participated in (4) four years of Chicopee Comprehensive High School football freshman through senior year. Special consideration will be given to injured players if they continued to participate and remained on the roster.

Any application that is late or incomplete WILL NOT be accepted.

Parent/Guardian MUST be a member of Friends of Football.

Applicant must write a 250-word essay detailing what he/she has learned from playing football for Chicopee Comprehensive High School and his/her plans for the future. Consideration will be given to the applicant’s participation in community service and his/her assistance in helping younger players.

Applicant must meet fundraising criteria. Fundraising criteria includes, but is not limited to, the minimum calendar sales as directed by Friends of Football Board of Directors.

One (1) letter of recommendation, of the students choosing, MUST be submitted with application. (For example: teacher, administrator, employer). Parent/Guardian/Family Member may not write the letter of recommendation.

Letter of acceptance or commitment to the applicant’s continuing education (college, university, trade school, military institution)

It is the goal of Friends of Football to award every applicant who meets the criteria a scholarship in the amount of $400 each, for the 2009-2010 academic year. This goal is based on funds available through Friends of Football and may change based on the current year’s fundraising efforts and goals.

Applications may be obtained through the Friends of Football and the Chicopee Comprehensive High School Guidance Counselor. There is also a link below to print the scholarship.

If for any reason a scholarship recipient does not attend his/her intended educational institution, he/ she forfeits the scholarship.

Scholarship funds may be distributed directly to the college, university, or trade school depending on the situation. Friends of Football wishes to contribute in the manner that works best for the applicant and his/her family.

Scholarships awarded are made possible through the proceeds of the various fundraising activities sponsored by the Friends of Football and through the work of its members.

Application and accompanying information MUST be received by May 15, 2010. An incomplete application WILL NOT be accepted.

Scholarship recipients will be announced at the annual Chicopee Comprehensive High School Senior Awards Night.
